McMillan holds a po sition in the Senate and Itir. J. F. McFadyen has a place in the House of Representatives. These are the first to get work with the Legislature in the history of Hoke county. Mr. Tom McFadyen "firove his Ford coupe into the A, & R- bus as he^ turned into Main street from' Central avenue Friday evening at 6 o’clock. Poor lights and a thick fine rain is assigned as reasons for the accident. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A, Mc Lean of Moultrie, Ga.. arespenc’- ing several days visiting relatives in and around town Mr. Mc Lean will he remembered as the son Mr. Hector D McLean de ceased. His accomplished wife was Miss Esther Redding of Moultrie, Ga. "belegates from Raleigh, N C. 0 Savannah, Ga.', gathered on he 8th day of January at Rae ford for the proposed highway from Raleigh to Savannah via Raeford, and to use their efforts to have this highway established as soon as possible. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Freeman of Ben nettsville, S. C., the name "La ITayette Highway” was selected, and a motion made and carried that the from Raleigh by Ben- nettsvilie be opened and adver tised at once. Th.e directors were instructed to appoint a com mittee to have boards put up as far South as said highway could be used. Enthusiam reigned through the entire meeting. The visiting delegates were fed by the towm of Raeford at the Kiwanis Hall. At the dinner General Bowley made a wonderful talk on the advantages of Fort Bragg to the government and especially its infiuenceon and education of and education of the young men of the army. The next meeting was-asked for by both Savannah, Ga., and Walyerboro, S. C. It’s selection was left to the Executive Com their next meeting.
